The MRT stands for Mass Rail Transit and is simply known as the MRT. ‘Soi’ means ‘street’ and these are numbered with ‘odd’ numbered streets on one side of a road and ‘even’ numbered on the other side, hence Sukhumvit Soi 23, Sukhumvit being the main road, and Soi 23 being the number of the side-street. If coming by Skytrain * Alight at BTS Asoke. * Follow the signs to the MRT (Underground train service) * Pass UNDER Soi Asoke by walking through the subway (it’s safer than trying to cross the road, even WITH the lights!) * Take the exit that says Soi 23 (even though you will actually exit on Soi Asoke, (it is sometimes called Soi 21) and turn left, walking back towards Sukhumvit Road (only about 20 paces) * Turn left and walk down to Soi 23 (first Soi on the left) *Down Under Sports Bistro is about one hundred metres down Soi 23 on the right hand side. If coming by the Underground * Alight at MRT Sukhumvit. * Take the exit that says Soi 23 (even though you will actually exit on Soi Asoke, (it is sometimes called Soi 21) and turn left, walking back towards Sukhumvit Road (only about 20 paces) * Turn left and walk down to Soi 23 (first Soi on the left) * Down Under Sports Bistro is about one hundred metres down Soi 23 on the right hand side. If coming by Taxi * Ask the taxi to take you to “Sukhumvit Soi 23”. * If that fails, ask him to take you to “Sukhumvit Soi Yi-Sip-Sam” or the slang version, “Sukhumvit Soi Yip Sarm”. * If that fails, ask him to take you to “Soi Cowboy”. Chances are he will drive into Soi 23 and take you to the back of Soi Cowboy. You will see the Down Under Sports Bostro signage as soon as you get into Soi 23. If he drops you at the Asoke end of Soi Cowboy, walk the length of Soi Cowboy and turn right. You will see Down Under Sports Bistro across the road. * If that fails, call the bar and ask one of our staff to give the driver directions. If walking * Lots of luck!! – Just joking! * Walk along Sukhumvit Road, on the ‘odd-numbered soi’ side of the road, towards Asoke Road (also known as Sukhumvit Soi 19) * Count down to Soi 23, or count up to Soi 23.
